hi!

a happy thanksgiving to everyone in the US ~ it's a sleepy day (at least where i am) and so i thought to jot down some thoughts.

posted a ton of new pics in the gallery ~ http://pics.livejournal.com/shaunaburns/ ~ lot's from the Phoenix Faerie Fest and from the Las Vegas GirlFestival in October. we had such a wonderful time in Phoenix! i love it down there and everyone was so welcoming and nice. we had a few little faeries that made the show extra special too... (see the pics to know what i'm talking about!) all-in-all it was a really sweet show. can't wait to go back. :)

there are some other news-y things that i posted the other day on the main site (http://www.shaunaburns.com) so if you are so inclined... you may take a peek. one of which is that the music is now up on The Sixty One (http://www.thesixtyone.com/shaunaburns/) which is a super cool music site. i first heard about it from my friend Brian Hazard (aka Color Theory) and been dragging my feet to get the music up on there. but luckily Chip (awesome-person-extraordinaire) helped get that up and running. love that site! so check it out as soon as you have a min. coolness awaits.

need to get a Thistle Glen out... and many other things to boot!

autumn thoughts

hello there ~ :)

well, autumn is setting in and the spooks and ghosts and goblins are receding into the forest... for now. i'm still fiddling with the videos... they will be done. sometime. soon-ish. one is still giving me grief. augh. but i will sort these out and present them. sit tight.

we are starting to get ready for the Phoenix Faerie Fest in Phoenix on Nov 14th. this will be a band show and it should be good fun! i love Phoenix. i love faeries. good match! i'm confirming the time now, so stay close for that. (all other pertinent info on http://www.shaunaburns.com)

as you can tell (if you are reading this on LiveJournal) you can see the new digs ~ i tried to find a more autumn-y layout and came across this lovely one. i really like how we can change it up for the seasons. i'm sure there will be several changes during the holiday festivities. can you believe we are talking about the holidays? i'm not sure about you guys, but this year has absolutely flown for me. big time.

Oct 8th Hard Rock Cafe Gig Canceled & Spooks

Hello my spooky friends ~

I have some sad news ~ unfortunately the show on October 8th (tomorrow) at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances between the organizers of the event and the venue. I truly appreciate Chris at Resodence and all he does for the musicians in Vegas. I'm sure this showcase will land on it's feet. :)

But in happy news ~ I have a new gig at the very fun Freaking Frog in Las Vegas on October 21st for the Las Vegas Girl Festival 2009! This is the 3rd year I will perform at this festival and so it should be a spooky good time! So I'll see you guys then!

back from texas & new mexico. loved it! had a wonderful time at the four winds celtic music fest and the santa fe ren fest was awesome, the crowd there was spectacular. everyone was so so so great and welcoming. overwhelmed and feeling so humbled by it all. lot's of new pics in the gallery: http://pics.livejournal.com/shaunaburns

texas, new mexico & vegas

hi ya ~ firstly, i am head-over-heels in love with ellipse ~ imogen heap's new creation. it's brilliant. it's quiet. it's thoughtful. i feels like she just hooked up a mic to her piano's soundboard and just channelled her muse. that's a good thing. piano's are good "lighting rods" for that type of stuff. :)

we got the info on the texas (sept 19) and new mexico (sept 20) festivals ~ should be a smashing good time. looking forward to them.

also just booked a gig at the hard rock cafe in vegas for october 8th. this will be the first time i've played there... not sure what to expect but my friend chris at resodence was very nice to include little old me. should be cool.

i'm in the middle of putting together a new newsletter with our new fanbridge newsletter generator. i think i've got it but i'm letting it simmer for a day or so. it will hopefully go out next week. it should. not sure why not. unless it completely falls apart while i sleep. this has been known to happen. but it should not. ;P

saw depeche mode at the amazing red rock amphitheater in denver. awesome experience... DM in red rocks. perfect! i twittered practically the entire thing and posted some nice fuzzy pics. i love DM.

have to catch them again... ;)

hi ~ so we are back from arizona and the medieval mayhem ~ it was pretty darn fun and so hot i considered going on stage with a wet paper towel on my head. it was a lot hotter than i thought it was going to be! but we endured and actually got through 6 shows in 3 days. wow. that was a lot of shows. but we all feel good about conquering our mountain... quite literally! the stage was on top of this gigantic hill with grass seats. it was a pretty amphitheater. below is day number 3.

so i often ask myself if i have too may blogs... oh dear. but i've decided that each have their own purpose and flavor. what blogs you might ask? well, i have this one here on live journal which is more for the site (http://www.shaunaburns.com) and this blog is connected/posted to other sites via rss. then we have the myspace blog (http://blogs.myspace.com/shaunaburns) which is also for facebook and is connected via rss to the "notes" there. but that is also similar to a second news feed where as this one is more "thoughts" focused i guess.

so maybe i don't have as many as i thought?... this one and the myspace/facebook one. i guess the news section of http://www.shaunaburns.com could sort of be a blog... but that really is more of a news update thingy.

got that all sorted out...

now to sort the galleries... hmmm.... maybe not.

hello!

major flowers in the cacti garden ~ love this time of year! they are amazing. :)

we are working on little touch-ups for the main site, little things here and there. just found out the contact page isn't working properly, whoops!, not sure how long that's been acting up... but it should be fixed soon. and we are adding the new Anamnesis videos to the video section too.

the Wandering Planets Tour is tootling along, it's been great. this tour feels even more relaxed than last year. if that is even possible. it's nice. probably because i'm spending a lot more time by myself on stage. it gets lonely sometimes but i'm enjoying it too. looking forward to the band shows in Show Low, AZ in july. it should be rockin! contemplating getting a new dress for these shows... i love my black and olive dress but it might be nice to switch it up. hmmm... we'll see.

i can't wait until Imogen Heap comes out with her new album, been following her on Twitter. i love her. i also have been loving all the new albums that have come out this year: DM, Tori, Color Theory's EP, which funny enough came out the same day as Anamnesis! how cool is that?! i've also been loving my old favorite Agnes Milewski. she is so awesome, i would love to see her in concert (have to get back to Austria asap!) oh, and we saw Flight of the Conchords in concert: completely hysterical! it was so funny and musically rockin.

anyhoo, we are looking into a few more dates to add to the tour which hopefully i can post soon. it will probably be in the mid-west (north-ish).

the stew is staring to bubble... already... lot's of tasty things are starting to come together, as they always do. ;)

ahahahahahaha.... it's here! Anamnesis is flying out to the world. I've been insane busy getting every little thing in order and now it's here! yesterday was nuts! but it's always fun, i like a little nuttiness. ha! but i hope everyone enjoys the tunes. the reviews are starting to come in and i'm completely floored. it's so humbling when you hear someone else's thoughts about the music ~ it's so overwhelming. i try very hard to translate the songs the way they want to be heard and it's nice when others embrace them as well. i feel i can't say thank you enough, really.

there have been so many updates on the main site (http://www.shaunaburns.com), new entry super-cool page, new photos up, new bio updates, new tour news, new, new, new updates. and a thistle glen!

but i wanted to put some thank you's here that i put in the newsletter and myspace blog ~ these guys are very special to me ~

Hi!

While recording Anamnesis my friend and awesome-all-around-gal Kiley Astle played violin on the track "So Tell Me..." and absolutely blew us away. Kiley's violin took this song to another level and I'm so honored to have her magic contribute to this song. You can listen to it on her MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/kbaviolin) before I put the song up in all the usual places. I can't thank Kiley enough for her friendship and support ~ You rock my world! :)

I'm working on my gigantic to-do list... it's fun but making my brain hurt. Oh, it's all good. It's exciting to finally get all the treats out. I wanted to record a new Thistle Glen last week but I just crashed. Hopefully going to get it done today or tomorrow. Feels like it's been forever!

I'm still completely overwhelmed by the love coming in from the music, photos, album cover reveal and the Anamnesis collage video ~ the support is very much appreciated. :)

Okay, Tour News: We are still getting information about exact times for some of the shows, it's a little weird with festivals sometimes and we're trying to nail details down. But if you have any questions please email me: shauna at shaunaburns dot com

It's looking like I'll be doing some tasty solo shows this summer but all those shows will have James on some percussion (so I'm not all by myself! ha!) and in Maryland I'm so excited that Caroline Kemper, Ms. Harpist-Extraordinaire, is going to be joining me! Now this is going to be awesome. But don't worry, we have the band for some shows too (like the Utah Ren Fest, Show Low, AZ and a festival in Phoenix later this year). It will be a good mix, and I'm sure some other dates will pop up, they always do. :)

Oh, and we've fixed the Star Chart Radio on the site ~ it's brand new and much easier to navigate. A big thank you to Benno for that help. We're also fixing up a few other things which will be revealed soon.

I'm completely overwhelmed with all the kindness and love that has been coming over the last few days about the new photos and music. I'm so grateful for all the support and snugs. It's been really fun putting everything together, re-doing MySpace and updating all the sites. It's nice to get a fresh re-do every now and then huh?

I'm getting ready to edit some video too... hee hee hee! lot's of fun stuff coming down the pike.

I have to also give a huge thank you to Nick Adams my amazing photographer/magic maker. His photos are pure magic. I can't wait for you guys to see the entire layout of the album. Steve, James and I love it!

Okay kids, I have so much more to share with you; songs, videos, pics, tour dates... and I've got to get going on a Thistle Glen...
